Our Philosophy & Approach to Mind-Body Healing

Hey Chronic Conditions, We are Finally Listening

An Ode to the Stuck

By Aspen Perlick

Where do we find the origins of our chronic conditions, to which their healing becomes inevitable?

In recent years it has become all the rage that our adverse childhood experiences and traumas greatly affect our brains and are often stored in our bodies. However, it is finally confirmed in the newest neuroscience that on top of past traumas: repressed emotions, personality traits, and thought patterns also play a large role in long term (or should I say, “chronic”) symptoms. These “players” I’ll call them, are often the underlying issues that keep human beings who are struggling with chronic conditions, stuck.

Chronically stuck. It is a state of being often reported with feelings of exhaustion, unrelenting pain and discomfort, brain fog, nausea and debilitation from symptoms, helplessness. It often looks like escaping the body to live in thoughts; or dissociating completely in search of some kind of solace, not knowing how to trust the body for intuitive signs; being unable to show up for work, loved ones, and even oneself – leaving guilt, shame, anxiety, and hopelessness.

Many people begin to feel ashamed about the notion that these experiences express an inability to be “normal”. As if any “normal” human should go through hell and then continue to show up in alignment to society's suggestions. Not only is it not normal to show up in the ways our society values – without a chronic condition – but it is entirely unreasonable to expect any human being to appear lively and giving, when they have been (for any reason) stripped of essential needs. Chronically stuck is a state of deficit

These chronic conditions are a NORMAL human response to basic needs not getting met. Therefore, until those needs are uncovered, discovered, and met – over and over again: so that one may find trust in the appearance, abundance, and source of these needs; chronically stuck, will stay stuck. Despite the likely daunting effect which the body’s request to find trust in a basic meeting of needs may imply; with devotion to this deep listening and uncovering of self, (once basic needs are met, trusted, and practiced) healing becomes inevitable.

THE PROCESS

What Do We Do in NCRT?

01

We Discuss

We will go over an in depth history of your symptoms, important events, and experiences. You will receive education on the latest leading edge neuroscience to get a better understanding of how the brain and body work together. Understanding the function of pain, and other symptoms.

02

We Build

Next, we start building the pathways for your brain to change course. Through mindfulness, meditation, somatic tracking exercises, guided emotional release, and bodywork techniques, we can start to strengthen the path to healing from the inside out.

03

We Discover

As we work to regulate the nervous system on a more consistent basis, often, many other "under the hood" issues have the space to now rise to the surface. Through talk, bodywork, and emotional experiencing, we can now discover and uncover repressed emotions, unprocessed trauma, thought patterns, and specific personality traits that contribute to the disordered neural circuit.

WHAT IT MEANS TO TUNE IN TO OUR SYSTEM THROUGH MIND-BODY HEALING.

  • How the Process of NCRT Involves Important Understanding of Stress
  • Benefits of NCRT & Bodywork

What symptoms do you treat?

Symptoms and disorders commonly associated with neural circuits are: brain fog, lack of motivation, difficulty concentrating, depression, anxiety, mood swings, muscle aches and soreness, memory problems, heartache, shortness of breath, feeling overly reactive, nervous system hyper vigilance, and sexual dysfunction.

What are common conditions related to stress?

Other physical or mental health issues that may be related to or worsened by stress include: Chronic Pain, Insomnia, IBS, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Lyme Disease, Anxiety, Depression, Fatigue, Addiction, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Cardiovascular Disease, Arrhythmia, Eczema, Hives or Itching, Grief, Inflammation / Autoimmune responeses.

How do we address stress in relationship to symptoms?

In order to address the stress, we have to understand the inherent qualities of stress hormones and how they show up in the mind-body connection. Stress = survival energy = anxiety.

What is Anxiety:

- A protective signal from your own brain

- An activation of your fight or flight system

- A message from the brain to the body (you can listen to the message, or you can try to cover it up)

With an understanding of this survival energy, responses to it can be examined for perpetuation of symptoms.

What Will I Get Out of Participating in Mind-Bodywork?

- Relief from chronic symptoms.

- Greater understanding of what it means to actively participate in mind-body connection and communication.

- New understanding of your brain and body based on leading edge neuroscience.

- Ability to continue your own mind-body healing practice, and education, without needing a practitioner to guide you.

Relieve pain, rewire responses to triggers, and trust in your body's ability to heal itself.
